The brief was to explore elements American culture and investigate it, forming a visual graphic outcome in responce to that research.

 

I decided to reflect on the recent American trip to my sisters where we went on an Epic Road Trip. I want to convey the iconic land marks and animals that we encounted on the trip. As I keep journals on most holidays and trips I made use of the writing and constructed a journal with all the material gained through out the trip. I didn't feel there needed to be any solid layout throughout the pages, so I stuck the material in a scrapbook manner. We were encouraged to be creative and use many creative processes. I found that the 3-D journal worked previously in the last semester, so I constructed a 3-D journal in my Shed with recycled cardboard. Using lights and exposing the flutes in the card made great textures and shadows. The hand cut text also made great typographic shadows.
